We believe that rescuing a child is only the beginning.
A child who has been rescued needs safety, medical care, psychosocial support, protection from further harm, family support and access to justice. Our approach therefore follows the child beyond the rescue operation and works toward recovery, justice and long-term protection.

A grassroots, investigation-led and partnership-based approach.
We work directly with communities and partner with law enforcement and relevant government structures to respond to cases where children are trafficked, sexually exploited, subjected to ritual abuse or placed at risk of human sacrifice.
Our local presence enables us to understand the communities where abuse occurs, identify risks early, support investigations and help ensure that survivors are not forgotten once an immediate rescue has taken place.

Our leadership
Leadership with experience, courage and commitment.
Obed Byamugisha is a Ugandan child-protection specialist with more than 13 years of experience supporting child-protection programming in humanitarian, emergency and development contexts.
His professional experience includes work in child protection in emergencies, trafficking in persons, harmful practices, refugee responses, policy development, investigations and justice-sector strengthening.
Obed has contributed technical expertise to the development of Uganda’s legal and operational frameworks addressing trafficking in persons and harmful practices against children. His work has included technical support to policy and legislative processes, investigation guidance and training materials for law-enforcement actors.
He provided technical support to the development of Uganda’s Investigator’s Field Manual on Trafficking in Persons, designed to support criminal investigators handling trafficking-related cases. He has also contributed to guidance and training relating to charging offences under Uganda’s trafficking legislation.
In humanitarian settings, Obed has supported child-protection programming in northern Uganda, including the refugee response in Bidibidi, Adjumani and Yumbe.
He has also contributed to regional child-protection policy work addressing harmful practices affecting children across the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) region.
A commitment to frontline child protection
Obed founded Streams of Joy Services out of a conviction that children facing extreme forms of exploitation need more than statements of concern.
They need people willing to act.
Streams of Joy brings together community engagement, investigation, law-enforcement partnership, survivor support and advocacy to confront serious crimes against children.
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to live free from violence, exploitation and fear. Our responsibility is to stand with children, pursue justice and help create the conditions in which survivors can recover and thrive.
